Appearance: Danny is of an average height, and while he has two forms, one human and one ghost, he is only ever seen in ghost form. As a ghost, he has pure white hair and neon green eyes. He’s rather scrawny, and a bit paler than normal Caucasian people—perhaps a side effect of him being a ghost.

His outfit rarely changes, and he is mostly seen in long-sleeved black robes and knee-length black pants. The robes reach to knee-length also, and have slits on either side of them. The waist and edges of the robes have white trimming. He normally wears a black straw samurai hat over his hair and half of his face is usually hidden in black ribbon, covering his neck to just under his nose. Beneath the robes and pants he wears a black jumpsuit with long, white gloves and long, white boots. Often times, you can see his trusty sword attached at the waist.
Personality: This alternate Danny is quite similar to his canon counterpart. He still retains his 14-year-old nature of naivete and awkwardness, and he still isn’t all that smart. He’s still brave and still knows when to stand up to big baddies and when to stand down—although if the enemy’s big and a lot is at stake, he’ll never pass up a fight, even if it’s way over his head. This Danny is just as foolishly heroic and occasionally overconfident as his canon counterpart.

He just hides it better. Unlike how he is portrayed in the show, Danny is a bit quicker to catch onto plans and analyze things, and a lot more willing to lie or keep information to himself. Overall, he appears a fair deal cooler and calmer than canon, but he can’t hide everything. It’s still obvious he stumbles over himself a lot and that in a lot of areas, he’s actually completely clueless.
Abilities/Strengths: Danny has been trained as a samurai, and his skills rest mostly with his sword. He doesn’t go many places without it, and is quite advanced with it. In the Ghost Zone he is known far and wide for his skills, hence the nickname Slashing Phantom. He also has a basic understanding of ghostly powers like flying, invisibility, intangibility, and ecto-blasts, which are a green ghostly energy that all ghosts use in one form or another. He sometimes uses his sword and ectoplasmic power in conjunction, so it becomes like a ghost-energy blade that deals at least twice as much damage—but it’s very taxing. There is plenty of room to improve, though.

Because Danny is half-human, things that full ghosts are susceptible to do not entirely grasp hold of him. For instance, a ghost-mind-control staff does not have full power over him because of his human half, which is not affected. People who attract ghosts will find Danny is drawn to them, but not as much as regular ghosts. Not to mention, many ghost containment devices don’t work on him either—but that’s only when he’s in human form.
Weapons: His sword, a perfectly normal sword. That’s the only one!
Weaknesses: Despite his advanced skills with a sword, he falls in other ghostly powers. While he can use the basic ghost powers (flight, invisibility, intangibility, ecto-blasts), he doesn’t know how to do any others. He is limited to those four powers. He can’t duplicate himself, use the Ghostly Wail, or any of that. He can’t even vary his standard ecto-blasts very much, he can only use a straight beam of ecto-energy from his hands.

While he isn’t fully victim to attacks or items that affect ghosts, he is still affected. Ghost-mind-control still works on him, and it takes a lot of work to get him out of it. He’ll still be attracted to those who attract spiritual beings. He’ll still be stuck in a cage meant for imprisoning ghosts.

He doesn’t have a very tactical mind, either. In his fights, he often has to calculate how the enemy will respond by miniscule movements of the body or face, and that is precisely what he has the most trouble with. He can’t figure out the enemy’s plan, and he can’t formulate his own. He has three-step plans that yield immediate results, but that is about as good as they get, and they’re usually very easy to figure out.

History: As a baby, Danny wasn’t exactly limited to his bedroom. In other words, he was allowed down in the basement, where his parents worked night and day on finishing a ghost portal. They were working so hard, in fact, that they never noticed him down there. They only noticed him when they plugged in their ghost portal and turned it on—with Danny inside. But by the time they noticed, it was too late. Danny had been plunged into the Ghost Zone, his human DNA scrambled with ectoplasm, turning him into a human-ghost hybrid.

After floating aimlessly through the Ghost Zone for about a week, a rather Asian-influenced island (more like a floating chunk of rock) picked him up. One of the teachers at the sword-fighting school on the island took a liking to him and decided to raise him. And so, Danny grew in the custody of a sword-fighting teacher, learning the skill as he grew, becoming one of the most (physically) talented fighters to pass through the school.

Often times, vicious ghosts will visit the island searching for a fight with him for whatever reason, and because of that Danny became the primary defendant of the island. His enemies’ constant defeats gave reason for his nickname, Slashing Phantom.

He retains no memories of living in the human realm, though, and thus doesn’t know of his human half. He thinks he is a full-ghost.
